Serving Our Community
We partner with our neighborhood school, Lost River Elementary School. We do an annual teacher wish list school supply drive, do various teacher appreciation events through the year, assemble hygiene kits, hold clothing drives, and try to support the community any way we can.
Helping Others Through Extending Love In the Name of Christ (HOTEL INC) is a locally funded interdenominational organization providing financial assistance and food to those in need in Warren County. HOTEL INC is supported by churches and individuals. CUMC provides financial support and weekly collections of non-perishable food items for their food pantry. For more information go to www.hotelincbgcom.
Formerly known as MEALS INC, Saturday Meals is an organization of 12 Bowling Green churches and one business who prepare, pack and deliver a hot meal and other food products to our less fortunate neighbors every Saturday morning. The recipients qualify for the program based on need due to lack of finances, age and/or health issues which prevent them from being able to purchase and/or prepare their own food.
Christ Church facilitates this meal quarterly and on holidays. This ministry allows people to work and spend time together outside the church. It provides us an opportunity to serve the Lord by serving others. We also contribute financially to this ministry.
Help spread the Good News of God’s love to children in need by packing a shoebox full of simple gifts and sending it off with prayer!
Christ Church is a Drop-off Location for Operation Christmas Child, a project of the international relief organization, Samaritan’s Purse. You may be familiar with this ministry, in which a shoebox is filled with small gifts for one child. These simple gifts are shipped outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S. The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. After receiving shoebox gifts, many boys and girls are invited to enroll in “The Greatest Journey”, a 12-lesson discipleship program. Through this program, local ministry partners are able to establish long-term, caring relationships with children and families by sharing the love of Jesus Christ.
Each year we partner with Prison Fellowship to provide Christmas gifts for children of incarcerated parents. Incarceration can strain family ties to the breaking point. Angel Tree shares the love of Christ in a tangible way and strengthens family bonds, delivering personalized gifts and the Gospel to children on behalf of their incarcerated parents at Christmas. Every Angel Tree family is also given access to a free, easy-to-read copy of the Bible in English or Spanish.
On the third Saturday of each month, we provide assembly and delivery of food boxes that are distributed to families experiencing food insecurity at Lost River Elementary school.
During the month of September, we make a special emphasis on getting into our community with a variety of service projects. We provide opportunities on several dates for people to participate in. This is a great way to get acquainted with new ministries in our community.
