Our Speaker
Julie Hager Love was born and grew up in Berea. She attended Kentucky Wesleyan College before transferring to Berea College, where she graduated with a degree in religion. There she met her husband George, and they have been married for over 30 years. They have two adult children, Cameron and Eliza.
After graduating from Berea College and getting married, Julie and George attended Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Julie worked as the Minister for Children and Families at St. Paul UMC. After seminary, the Loves moved to St. Charles, Missouri where Julie again served as children's minister at First UMC of St. Charles. Next, they moved back to Kentucky, this time to Prestonburg. There, Julie worked part time in several ministries including: Life skills teaching through the Big Sandy Area Development District, teaching at Big Sandy Community College, and district ministry consultant with the Prestonburg District of the UMC.
Prior to coming to the Methodist Children's Homes, Julie served for 15 years as the Director of Connectional Ministries for the Kentucky Conference of the UMC. There Julie oversaw the various ministries of the conference, including camps, campus ministries, age level ministries, communications, missions, and much more. She was appointed to be KyUMH's next President/CEO in July of 2019. Julie earned her doctorate degree in December 2024.

Overnight accommodations
We have three options for your overnight stay.
Hotel Style Room (Turner lodge): $130 per room, per night
These rooms each have a queen size bed and a comfortable full size futon, plus a full bathroom. There are handicapped accessible rooms. We can accommodate 26 women at double occupancy in these rooms ($65 each). These rooms are located in the same building as the eating space and a very short walk to the meeting room.
BUNK HOUSE (Treehouse Village): $25 per person, per night
There are four villages of treehouse cabins. Each cabin has 7-9 sets of sturdy bunk beds plus a bathroom with multiple stalls and showers. We will likely be placed in the newest village which is a short walk to both the meeting room and the cafeteria. We are able to use just the lower bunks to help everyone feel most comfortable. Please note: you need to bring your own bedding to the bunkhouses!
ROOM IN A HOUSE (Lakeview Lodge): $65 per person, per night
Retreat Fees
We do not want cost to prohibit anyone from being able to attend. We believe this weekend is an investment in the growth of the women of our church which is beyond value. This will have an impact not only on the women who attend, but also on their families, friends, and spheres of influence.
These fees are the direct costs from the retreat facility. The church will subsidize the rest of the expenses for the retreat. If you cannot afford the amount listed, please sign up anyway. If you would like to give above the amount suggested to help cover other expenses or to provide a scholarship, we thank you in advance.
Fee breakdown:
Attend retreat Friday: $10
Attend retreat Saturday: $20
Single occupancy hotel room $130

Bed (queen, bunk, or pull-out sofa) in lodge: $65 per night
